September 19th Meeting

September’s speaker: MICHELE ATKINS, On Human Trafficking and Children Sexual Exploitation.

Michelle Atkins earned an MSW from SDSU. She has been working with youth experiencing homelessness since 1997 through various youth serving organizations.  Michelle has worked as a case manager and program manager for San Diego Youth Services (Atkins2) Storefront Shelter in which she championed trauma informed service delivery as well as assisted with the STARS programming to develop services for youth facing commercial sexual exploitation.  Michelle is now the Program Manager of the SDYS Counseling Cove which provides therapeutic and case management services to youth between the ages of 12-20 that are experiencing homelessness or have runaway.  Michelle’s current clients are primarily young women involved in commercial sexual exploitation and she facilitates the aftercare group for STARS.

 As you know, our club meets at 6 p.m. for socializing/dining, followed by our speaker at 7 p.m., and our business meeting at 8 p.m.  We meet at Coco’s Restaurant, 1025 Fletcher Parkway, El Cajon, CA.  We hope to see you at our club meeting on Thursday, September 19
